RIVERSIDE PIER HOTEL BARRACK SQUARE
A boutique 88 room hotel with cafe and function room on the deck, situated not he jetty next to the Bell-tower, an iconic Perth building when completed. The design concept drew from the building's unique location, and was proposed to be constructed on piles in the Swan River. The site was in a stretch of river rich in both Indigenous and local cultural heritage. As such, the design referenced the Waggyl as well as the steam ships that used to jetty there, as well as the historic rowing club next door. The approvals process was delicately handled to achieve a development approval on a site with no fewer than 6 governmental bodies needing to sign off.
